A long-running dream sits behind this casual Thai restaurant in San Antonio, built on family, care, and food that brings people together. Thai Spice & Sushi began with owner Darren Yang’s wish to create a welcoming place rooted in great food, steady relationships, and a team that treats service like something personal.
The menu brings together fresh sushi, classic curries, hibachi selections, and gluten-free options in a cozy setting with a relaxed pace. Our dishes, like Paht Thai and Gang Panang, are designed for people who've never tried authentic Thai cuisine and for the families who visit our restaurant every single day. Thai Spice began with a dream—one that brought Darren, a proud immigrant and father, to San Antonio with the vision of creating a restaurant built on longevity, love for food, and meaningful connection. He wanted to serve authentic Thai and Sushi dishes that honored cultural traditions while creating a space where families could gather and feel at home.
Over the years, that dream grew. Literally. When Darren realized that Northeast San Antonio needed more than just great food—it needed a true place to gather—he doubled the size of the restaurant and built out a full hibachi grill experience. Today, Thai Spice is the only spot in San Antonio where you can enjoy Thai, Sushi, and Hibachi all in one place.
Darren's happiest moments are hearing guests laugh over dinner, seeing regulars return, and watching new customers fall in love with a dish. He's also incredibly proud of his team—many of whom have been with him for years—and proud of his son, who inspires him daily to keep building something that lasts.
At the heart of Thai Spice is community. Darren believes relationships are everything: with his staff, his customers, and the neighbors who've supported him from the start. This restaurant is more than a business—it's a thank you to the people of Northeast San Antonio who helped make a dream come true.
